Roy Lazorwitz
I'm Roy Lazorwitz! Born and raised in New Jersey and have always aspired to be a writer and performer. I've been writing sketches and movies since I was 11, even writing and directing my own play in the 8th grade. I moved to New York when I was 22 to pursue such a dream and while I may not have seen the success I dreamt of, I was able to write and produce a feature-length film and two shorts, and I wrote, directed, produced, and starred in a sketch variety show called "Anything On Tv With Jeff and Royster'' with my partner and best friend Redd Jefferson. I moved to Austin in January where I got involved with Comedy Stage Lab and have since become a Producer and host of the weekly show Knockout! I also am part of the sketch group Stranger Party and am coordinator and teacher of the "Chamber St. Writers," a weekly writers workshop that focuses on character development.
Redd Jefferson
Hi, my name is Redd Jefferson. I was born and raised in the loving bosom of Northern New Jersey. I started performing mostly in community-based theater throughout my grade and high school years. While I was attending college, I expounded my creative endeavors by taking a weekly radio host gig and some student film voice-over work. After school, I took classes at Upright Citizens Brigade and started performing in comedy clubs and theaters throughout the Big Apple. In the middle of all this, Roy Lazorwitz and I became best friends and partners. We created, wrote, and starred in our own variety show called "Anything On TV with Jeff and Royster" which opened for "The Chris Gethard Show" (Now on FusionTV). After moving to Austin, I joined Comedy Stage Lab, where I collaborate both on- and off-stage: writing, performing, audio tech-ing, as well as co-hosting and producing the theater's weekly cage match show, Knockout!

AP INSTRUCTOR BIOS
Amber Loftis has been participating in Theatre since the bright-eyed-and-bushy-tailed age of 14. A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, she attended the Department of Theatre and Dance where she received a BFA in Theatre Studies. That means she went to college to be a theatre teacher! Which means she loves to teach theatre and make art with students of all ages. She moved to New Orleans from Austin, and while in Austin, she was the Director of Theatre at a middle school in Round Rock, TX for 4 years. She built the program from the ground up and was completely responsible for all curriculum, shows and department business.
Robin Johnstone graduated from the University of North Carolina with degrees in Communication Studies and Dramatic Art. Afterward, she moved to Los Angeles where she trained in comedy at IO West, Second City LA, UCBLA, and the Groundlings. She performed with two theater companies and also on many of the stages of the city’s best comedy venues. In New Orleans, she teaches English and writing to high school and college students. She holds an MA in English from the University of New Orleans and is currently working toward an MFA in Creative Writing.
GIVE TO A CAMPER
In order to make our programming accessible to students of all income levels, we offer AP Comedy scholarships.
In the future, we hope these scholarships will be created in part with grant funding, but at our current stage, our scholarships are funded entirely out-of-pocket from the theater and by the generous donations of our supporters who think kids and comedy make a good combo. The cost of a full scholarship is $325, but you can donate anything you'd like. We're attempting to raise enough to offer six full scholarships, but we're happy with whatever you can afford to give.
Wanna help? Cool. We accept donations via Venmo @ 'TheNewMovement' or Paypal us @paypal.me/thenewmovement. Let’s team up on this and make these kids feel like rock stars!
